Objective:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1) Understand technical features of pumps, compressors and turbines
2) Select optimal type and size of equipment for a given industrial application
3) Use methods of estimating the degree of deterioration and inefficiency of equipment
4) Apply best practices and techniques of pinpointing the root cause of problems
5) Choose the most efficient remedies and troubleshooting techniques in operation

1) Chemical, Process and Mechanical Engineers
2) Product Engineers and Technologists
3) Operation, technical service and maintenance professionals
4) Engineers, Consultants and Sales professionals
5) Technical professionals responsible for interdisciplinary energy projects

Course Content:
Day One: Centrifugal Pumps
1) Overview of various types of pumps based on design and application
2) World standards and codes related to pump design
3) Main elements of centrifugal pump construction
4) Design of pump-suction piping
5) Selection and sizing of centrifugal pump
6) Solving problems in operation

Day Two: Positive Displacement Pumps
1) Positive displacement pumps: reciprocating and rotary
2) Pump requirements for chemical, process and oil industry, power generation
3) Pumps for special applications
4) Guidelines for pump installation and operation
5) Pump inspection, control and performance testing
6) Maintenance and troubleshooting of pumps

Day Three: Centrifugal Compressors
1) Overview of the main features of various types of compressors
2) Classification of compressors based on design and application
3) World standards and codes related to compressor design
4) Main elements of centrifugal compressor construction
5) Analysis of centrifugal compressor efficiency
6) Guidelines for trouble-free centrifugal compressor operation

Day Four: Positive Displacement Compressors
1) Positive displacement compressors: Reciprocating and Rotary
2) Basic criteria for selecting the optimum cost-effective compressor
3) Compressor loadings and speeds; noise control and protection
4) Compressors for special applications
5) Guidelines for compressor installation and operation
6) Compressor inspection, maintenance, control, performance testing and troubleshooting

Day Five: Industrial Gas Turbines
1) Main elements and technical characteristics of gas turbine design
2) Radial and Axial-flow gas turbines
3) Combustor performance - types of fuels, combustion and pollution control
4) Gas turbine deterioration - corrosion and erosion prevention
5) Mechanical vibrations - monitoring, measurements, diagnostics and analysis
6) Installation , operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of gas turbines
