اهداف البرنامج
الخدمة الاجتماعية الطبية عبارة عن مجموعة من الخدمات المتخصصة المهنية والتي يقدمها أخصائيون اجتماعيون لصالح المرضى وأسرهم خلال مراحل تلقي العلاج في المستشفى أو كمتابعة لاحقة بعد الخروج من المستشفى وتهدف هذه الخدمات إلى مساعدة المرضى وعائلاتهم على الاستمرار في تلقي العلاج المناسب بأقل قدر من المصاعب الاجتماعية عن طريق التعامل مع المرضى وأسرهم بشكل رئيسي مع القائمين والمعنيين بتقديم الخدمات الطبية والاجتماعية اللازمة في المجتمع بشكل عام إضافة للعمل على تحسين الأداء الاجتماعي لهؤلاء المرضى عن طريق استعمال الأساليب المهنية المناسبة والموارد الذاتية والبيئية لتحقيق هذه الأهداف.
