" الآن، استحضر بذهنك اتجاه الماضي واتجاه الحاضر، وتخيل أن هناك خطأ يمر من الماضي إلى المستقبل مروراً بالحاضر، ثم تصور أن " هذا الخط ( فقط من اجل هذا التمرين ) هو خط ممتد بين الماضي والحاضر والمستقبل. " هناك بعض الناس لا يستطيع أن يتصور خط الزمن، فقد يكون لديه إحساس بخط الزمن أو صوت معين يتميز به خط الزمن. وهذا أمر طبيعي ويرجع إلى اختلاف النظام التمثيلي بين الناس . ثم نطلب من العميل أن يرتفع أو يطفو أو يحلق فوق خط الزمن ، و في البداية نساعد العميل بمد كلمات فووووق ، اعلالالا ... بنبره متصاعدة كما لو كنا نحن نرتفع فوق خط الزمن . نطلب من العميل أن يحلق باتجاه الماضي قليلا ثم باتجاه المستقبل مع إعطاء العميل الوقت الكافي لذلك ونطلب من العميل بين فترة وأخرى أن يرتفع أكثر فوق خط الزمن وذلك للتأكد من أن العميل فوق خط الزمن . ونطلب منه أن يرتفع إلى إن يصل طول خط الزمن إلى حوالي متر واحد ثم بعد ذلك نطلب من العميل أن يتجه إلى نقطة الحاضر والرجوع إلى الغرفة . وبعد ذلك نعطي العميل فرصة كي يلتقط أنفاسه ثم نسأله " كيف كان ذلك ؟ " .
